Microcenter on San Jacinto/610 has Vista Home basic for $55, Vista Ultimate for $175 and Vista Premium for 63.99.

They had both 32 and 64 bit flavors. I thought I saw a Ultimate for $155 and a couple of XPs as well.

I asked a clerk what they were and was told that they were "send-backs" to MS that were refurbished, i.e. the disc didn't work, and should load up just fine. They come in clear plastic DVD cases with the product code sticker intact and on the back. At least thats how mine was. They are in big white envelopes in those anti-theft lock boxes.

Good deal for anyone in the area and who knows maybe all the Microcenters have them.

Well, if you're buying if for your own use I suppose it wouldn't matter since you could just return it to the store. Reselling it might be problamatic though.
 
I'm positive the store itself's already figured it out.
Buying from a legi store such as MC is no sweat.
They would not resell or sell anything that would involve illegal activity.
