B&M Deal: Office Depot HP Color Laserjet 4500 for $1500

Saw this printer in the stores on Thurs, marked down from $2500 to $1700 and there's a $200 rebate. My GF bought this printer and it prints OUTSTANDING on plain paper. HOWEVER, it doesn't do glossy paper so well. If I didn't already have a laser and inkjet printer, this baby would be mine!

Buy.com is selling it for 2350, plus 75 for s/h. This bizatch weighs 140lbs!

It only comes with 32mb RAM tho, that's pretty scant. You'll be using the MemRET (compression) for complex docs and that slows down printing. Just goto HP's site, look up their 64mb mem module (they have it for ~500) and then goto Kingston's website and cross-reference. Then, search for the Kingston version on Buy.com, it's only ~80.

$1580 for an HP 4ppm Color, 16ppm B&W laser with 96mb RAM....not a bad deal!

Mileage may vary at different stores. My store had it at the clearance table for $2,200. It would be nice if they had the 50% off lowest price sign on the clearance table which they do periodically!

From what I understand, and from past experience, OD is pretty good about nationwide clearance pricing on big ticket items. In most cases, if one has it for a price, they all have it for that price.....

Do you by chance have the OD SKU/item #? That helps whenever calling our OD's to see what their price is.

id honestly look into the tektronik's wax printers in this price rance, i know their a bit 1000 more but man is it nice, and hell used, they're even better considering the ink/wax is pretty cheap compared to toner

carefull with the tektronix printers. the wax comes off very easily..it can be scratched, or if you get it close to anything warm, you should see what a hair dryer does to one. i love the quality of the Phaser, but it doesnt last long in the real world environment
