AX-7 temp too high

hi. i just got my ax-7 in the mail yesterday along with the 46cfm Panaflo. using the ITE Smartguardian that came with my Soltek Board...SL-75DRV2. i am getting temps as high as 126F (52C) under full load and around 110F at idle. i've read reviews that say they average around 90F with my processor. any suggestions would help, here is my setup:
1.) full tower case with one intake on front and 2 exhaust...one on side right about where the HS is and one on back
2.) AX-7 with 46cfm Panaflo flowing down on an XP1800....Arctic Silver 3....Copper Shim

I would definetly reseat the heatsink and make sure not to use too much AS3. Also, I am not sure if the copper shim would help or harm you so someone else please comment on that.

a couple of things

A) MOtherboards read temps differently. You can't compare your temps to review temps, unless they have the same mb, adn then you have to adjust for your case temp.

B) WHat is your case temp?

C) Did you put grease on the shim? Did you make sure teh shim isn't causing the heatsink to sit too "high"? Shims do not help cooling, btw (in any way fathomable, unless your heatsink isn't sitting flat before hand).

WOW, shims don't help with cooling ????? thanks for the advice. i have a shim because i've already cracked a core a while ago and don't want to risk it again. i reseated the thing and that really helped.....i think i knew what was wrong. i had the HS flipped, the clip was on the wrong side so it was a little offcenter. it's much better now, thanks. -ALAN

Any tips on AX-7 fitting would be gratefully received as mine should be here by tuesday -

If I`m upgrading a H/S I usually base my fitment / opinion on it`s cooling ability on the previous one, in this case it`s a FOP38 with the Delta removed and replaced with a 4300RPM YS-Tech (turning it into a FOP32-1) , which at 70Deg room temp the 1800+ Idles at 38 deg-C ..

Also, Anyone found the best fan with the best Quietness / Cooling ratio?, I have Panaflo and YS-Tech 80mm fans, for some reason the Pan seems to throw out more air on the bench though it`s rating is quite a bit lower, it certainly seems to produce a more "pleasant" tone than the YS-Tech if you know what I mean..
