AX-7 + TBird?

Hey guys,

I've got an Abit KT7A with a TBird 1Ghz (266FSB) and desperately need some peace and quiet! I was thinking of the magic combination - AX-7 and a Panaflo, Sun-on, or YS-Tech fan. But does the TBird run too hot for that? Do I need an XP to use this set-up? If so, anyone have any experience with AthlonXP on the KT7A? I think it is supposedly compatible, but wouldn't be surprised if it was problematic.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info!

I'm gonna go for the Panaflo H1A to be on the safe side. I play some games that tax the CPU a bit. Also gonna get some Vantec Stealth fans for the case. If its still running cool enough I'll go quieter. Anyone else wanna put their 2-cents in?

Thanks again

The AX-7 with just about any decent quiet fan is easily man enough to cool down a tbird 1gb.

Another quiet solution is the Dr Thermal

ok got it today heres results

old heatsink/fan: Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu
idle: 45c
full load: 50c

new heatsink: Ax-7
new fan: vantec stealth 21dba 27cfm 80mm
idle: 36-37c
full load: 40-41c

full load temps are after an hour or so of unreal tournament, with all settings maxed out.

the vantec fan is completely inadible over my antec "quiet" heatsink's fans. 🙂

this is on the XP1900+ rig in my sig
