Awwwww - bad gas mileage with the Lunchbox :(

Ryan

Lifer
lol - my highway mileage blows. From from Florida to North Carolina today in my Scion xB, and here are my fuel consumption averages:

First Refill - 28.45mpg
Second Refil - 27.28mpg
Third refill - 25.30mpg

Hell - I average above 30mpg in 100% city traffic - I guess doing a constant 80mph really takes a toll on the small engine. That - and the whole un-aerodynamic thing, but still! 😛 I guess I shoudl probably figure in load too - I had three passengers, and luggage for the trip - A/C on too.

I have pinpointed the reason for the VERY crappy mileage on the third refill - think it could be this?

Lol - that's the fastest the car could go - pedal was touching the floor, and it wasn't going any faster.

yeah - still do. Get's great gas mileage in the city - sometimes better than the EPA estimates - on the highway tho - 🙁

IS THAT THE WHOLE CLUSTER? WTF talk about tiny/cost saving!

Hey - it works just fine 😛

I'm driving a 2005 Ford Explorer-type thing. Went to that Mercedes Benz event over in Jersey. Got 14.9 mpg through 200 miles of mostly highway driving. Two passengers, no luggage. In and around the city, I'm lucky to break 10-11 mpg. Now thats a brick compared to the Scion.

haha, that cluster makes me want to cry.. but i still like the xb!!!

wow, just over 100mph is friggin brutal, my car gets there pretty quick and surpasses it easily.. LOL

but it's a lil' more aerodynamic (what isn't) 😉

The engine was soooo friggen loud too - I was expecting it to explode. The car was shaking at that speed - haha.

Not really suited for highway travel I'd say - although - at 70-80 mph is actually wasn't that bad. Didn't have any problems, was pretty comfortable - and road/wind noise isn't as loud as I'd expect, especially for an aconomy car (although - at the..errr..higher speed, it gets much louder).

I love my Saturn, 43 mpg highway 🙂 above EPA estimate of 40

I was going to say "Yeah - but it's a Saturn!", but then realized, most people would probably say the same about my car 😛

LOL, so true. To each his own. You love your Scion and I love my Saturn, so it's all good. The Xb may not be my cup of tea, but if you like it, more power to you 🙂 close to 30 mpg still isn't too bad either.

yeah - I guess so. I'd probably hit it if I drove at a steady 70mph - and not hit the speed limiter 😱

Since we're on the subject of MPG, is 22MPG for city pretty good for a 2003 Neon SXT? (I drive responsibly, no speeding or off-the-line starts)

At 200 km/h I didn't even bother measuring MPG as it would be horrid. My Prelude's pretty aerodynamic though, so it can't be worse than your Scion. Hopefully.

The benefit to having a heavy car is the ride is absolutely solid, even at those speeds. No violent shaking. Handles the wind quite well.

I'm gonna get the tC as my 2nd car this month. God damn pure pricing. WTF does that mean anyway? The dealers around here all sell Scions above MSRP.
