Desert Combat

OMG, it looks pimp. Can't wait to see it in action. Imagine the ownage doled out by that bad boy. Unfortunately, the opposition are going to pummel the hell out of it.

We have an aircraft carrier now too. Just not a REAL carrier like the new Nimitz class. This should be pretty cool but the closer they get to real weapons on each side the more imbalanced things will get against the opposition. I wonder what the opposition will get to balance things, if they get anything at all.

They need one of those cool land-based carriers with treads like in UN Squadron.

OMG that game rocked soooo much!

Has anyone else noticed that the f-15 looks like Roy Fokker's Veritech from Robotech? (including the VF-84)

The new maps, in fact, suck real bad.

The oil rig... NO. What is this, a Tom Clancy game? I spent more time trying to figure out where the fvck I was than I did anything else...
The big night-time map with all the cliffs? POORLY PLANNED.

I'm pretty sure (at least when it comes to BF1942) that they give out planes mostly based on how many are already out and the number of people on a team... so usually one won't pop up until a person using one goes down. This goes for all vehicles.

It may be an empty model, but modelling something with that sort of detail can take a long time. Texturing on that bad boy probably took upwords of a couple of months between a few people... assuming they didn't just use already-made textures. If it's made in the likeness of a certain carrier, then it may have taken a while to get the details just right so that the freaks don't complain.

I'm liking it... the new helicopters are a blast. Last night on Sea Rigs I was knocking people off the towers with my helo
Havn't laughed that hard since I first started playing the BF1942 demo and saw people jump out of planes but forget to pull their parachute. :D

Unlike ness I like the new maps... Urban Siege and Sea Rigs anyway. Both are large and complex maps... I was joking yesterday about how Urban Siege looks a lot like a SimCity map from above. Must have taken a while to make it.

No. It's a first person shooter war game on a rather grand scale. Very big maps and lots of vehicles.

I couldn't tell you. The maps all crash me to the desktop without even loading. BF1942 has never been very stable for me, I always have to completly uninstall/reinstall/repatch with every new release just to be able to play. DC makes it even worse.

It's a real shame too, I love that game. I can't wait for my p4/chip/ram to get here so I can see how it runs on that

You'd better have a 2+ghz computer and a 9800 pro for those new maps. :D

Not really. Sea Rigs runs fine with my XP 3200+ and Radeon 9600 @ 470/310. However I think my 512MB of memory is really holding me back and I'm going to wait for the holidays to be over so memory prices fall again.

I absolutely love BF 1942. Wish I could say the same about DC. Tanks are waaaaaaaaaay too powerful and almost god like. Infantry can almost never blow tanks up (unless they are in tanks or helicopters). First of all, not only are they tough, they move so damn fast and can turn so frigging fast. In BF 1942, you can blow tanks up with ONE good shot. Screw DC, I am sticking to BF 1942 and Road to Rome.

i agree. maps without vehicles are annoying to begin with (basrah nights)... but then combine them with a maze of corridors, and it just becomes retarded.

and yes, a night map - designed to be played with almost nothing but armor - combined with a bunch of cliffs that are hard to see in the dark = suck. although i found a neat bug. drive off a cliff in an APC (one of the ones that can drive in water), and its such a long drop, that when it hits the water, itll be upside down. except it doesnt right itself. you can drive around the river floating on the turret. its lol irl.

Uhh... you do realize that you just described hating DC for every point which makes it a more realistic game than BF42, right?

You do realize that giving one unit too much power is no fun?
