Awkward Turtle

Does anybody have any idea where the term "awkward turtle" came from? I use it all the time, and have lightened many-a awkward situation with it... but I have no idea where I learned it or where it sprouted up.

Is it from a show, or movie maybe? Or did someone just one day come up with it?


NOTE: For those of you unfamiliar with the awkward turtle... it's a hand gesture where you put one hand on top of the other and rotate your thumbs, like that of a turtle on it's back. It is used during awkward moments to either worsen the awkwardness or relieve the tension.

I've never seen anyone seriously use "awkward turtle" in any situation. I know what it is, but it's pretty much a big joke.

As in, if ever an awkward situation arises, awkward turtle would be the last thing I would think of.

Have you ever seen the movie Waiting? There are a lot of tricks such as the turtle coming out of its shell, the hotdog in a bun, the brain, the batwing...etc.
