awful screen burn in samsung verizon phones

i got the s3 but havent activated it yet so i went into the verizon store to check it out and ALL of the samsung phones have really bad image burn on them. i mean really bad. even the s3's which have only been plugged in for a few weeks already have the verizon advertising screen and desktop noticeably burned into the screen. the charge demo had it ridiculously bad. the other brands dont really have this problem or at least to a much lesser degree. has anyone else had this problem. it was bad enough to make me reconsider not getting samsung

next time youre in the verizon store check it out, i was surprised that their galaxy s3 demos already had the "s beam" ad already burned into the screen so that you could see it in the backbround as you web browsed

Never had a problem myself but I don't do dumb things like a store might. Like leaving the display on for long periods of time on the same screen. I've never met someone who sets the display to stay on all the time... Has a bad effect on the battery hehe.

meh, my screen is usually off most of the time. Those demo units probably have their screens on all day long.

the phones at the VZW store are generally set to max brigntness and the screen is never turned off, you will burn in pretty much any display tech like that, with normal use there is no issue

this is one of the reasons Google needs to allow you to hide the Status bar. Takes about 3-6 months before it's burned in on the screen, there are some threads in XDA about it

All display technologies can suffer from burn in under the right circumstances including IPS.

I have several 2 year gold galaxy S phones and none of them have any burn in at all.

I do not have this problem on my Galaxy Nexus or heard of anyone else with screen burn issues. It's not something to worry about unless you plan on keeping your screen on at max brightness on the same image for days on end. The same can happen with TVs, so I don't know why you think this issue is limited to Samsung phones.

The samething happens with Plasma TV's at BestBuy. They are set to display the same still pictures 24/7 and will have burn-in issues in a few weeks to a month.

That issue doesn't affect my buying decision of Plasma over an LCD TV in the end because I don't watch TV 24/7 nor keep the same exact still image with maximum brightness for days on end when I'm watching it like Bestbuy does(or Verizon in your case), and it shouldn't affect yours either.

They must have their screens on literally all the time. I've had my Nexus S 4G since May 2011 and not even a hint of burn-in.

There's slight burn-in on my Vibrant mainly around the time AM/PM area. Nothing major and it doesn't bother me. It's small price to pay to have/use the best current screen tech.
