I went to my friends house today to check out the new diamondtron 22 inch monitor he traded a lappy for. i was so shocked, the monitor looks new, has a perfect flat screen and its hugggggge. but damn the picture is soo fuzzy. like realll fuzzy. i feel bad for my friend who got ripped off. but i want to know what kind of damage or use the previous guy could have done to make such a new monitor that fuzzy..

That may be part of the reason (not absolutely, but it's a possible reason). The GF2's tended to have poor filters. This tends to show up at 1280+ resolutions.

Who makes the monitor? Nvidia doesn't have the best 2D, but it shouldn't be all fuzzy like you describe.

Are you sure Mitsubishi is the make of the monitor? Because there are six manufacturers using Mitsubishi's DiamondTron tubes in their monitors. If its a Mitsubishi model, it would be either the DiamondPlus 20 or DiamondPro 2040u/2060u. You could be looking at an older DiamondTron model.

don't think it's the monitor if it's a mitsubishi.

their diamond pro series is TOP OF THE LINE!!! I've never seen a better picture. I bought my 900u for $1000 2 years ago and although it's worth more than the computer itself, I've never regreted it for one second.

one other thing, maybe with your old 15", you didn't notice the fuzzyness because the monitor never really had such a crisp display. so now with a much larger and much more detailed monitor, all the fuzzyness is showing up on that little GF2MX.

anyway, best of luck!

I agree with urameatball
Mitsubishi's diamond pro series is very high quality product
It could be older model or other brand

i would bet its the card.. tell him if he has a chance.. to try and get his hands on a radeon for a little.. if the problem persist..its his monitor.. (that sucks)

In view of some of the comments above, your friend might want to see what it looks like when he drops the resolution down to 1024x780.

============

Was there a possibility this unit was shipped anywhere recently?

Large monitors tend to receive terrible handling during shipment because they are heavy and their shipping cases are big and awkward.

Regardless, many major cities have shops that specialize in monitor repair. Your friend might want to check into this. It could be a simple issue of focus.
