To be fair, I do believe the 100 seconds was a hypothetical comment from someone featured in the article. The actual study, I do believe, used 4 or 5 second puffs, but they did it at extreme voltage and didn't allow the wicks to resaturate. This kind of result was likely engineered and fully expected by the authors of the article, as was the public response to the misleading findings. The scientist who conducted the study has since backpedalled after being confronted.
Yeah, but just look at what the damage was done. With that one "study" that's only been out a few weeks you have someone like lxskllr completely forming a negative opinion on e-cigs in general (I'm guessing he has some prior issues with them as well), stating that they produce a pretty toxic byproduct (which lends credit to banning them in public places). Also he suddenly forgets some basic electric principles.
I mean, I bet he knows ohms law, but he somehow assumed higher voltage devices use the same resistance coils to get "big clouds". It's not simply cranking up the voltage on the device...
I bet he also understands the difference between a physical and chemical change and how a phase change cannot produce a new chemical.
But he threw all that knowledge out just to grab the first "study" that shows they are bad and proudly shove it down out throats.
While doing snus/snuff for himself.
Actually, now that I think about it, it's kind of fucked up.
