Awesome TV shows that were ripped from your hands?!?

I was reading the Heroes thread and someone mentioned something about the show "The 4400". I remember watching that when it first came on tv. Seemed like an awesome show. Somewhere along the line though, I lost track of what was going on. I doubt I had DVR at the time and I'm the type of person who doesn't like to miss an episode. Irregardless, that isn't the show that I want to bring up.

The show that I LOVED that was ripped from me was Jericho. I didn't even watch it on tv, I found out about it a year or two after it was originally aired. I downloaded all the episodes and absolutely loved it. But for some reason (poor ratings?) it was canceled after an epic first season.

That leads me to a question. How are ratings calculated exactly? I understand the general concept. But let's say I record two shows on my DVR. Does that show that I 'watched' those shows? What if the shows were recorded at the same time? Do they both get 'watched'?

How about if I flip back and forth between two programs? How do they calculate family size when they calculate viewers? Is every tv 1 viewer. Or is there an average?

These are all very curious questions to me, as with new technology I would suspect their measurings are very inaccurate. And if Heroes gets canceled due to them being inaccurate I'm going to be pissed!!!

But yes, Jericho was an awesome show. I miss it 🙁

Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. Babylon 5. Enterprise. There's more, but it's pointless.

Jericho was awesome but they took some strange directions in season 2.

Understandably... They were cancelled after the 1st season and were only brought back after a successful grassroots campaign. They were given the go ahead to make like 10 episodes for season 2 and knowing they were probably already set up to fail, they decided to conclude it which is why they took the direction they did.

Aside from the most obvious (Arrested Development), there's Sports Night. Lasted two seasons, but it was one of my favorite shows ever.

Oh well, at least we got four good seasons of The West Wing.

Jericho

Would love to see it come back, but maybe as a follow along?
Like, follow characters in New Bern instead

sarah connor chronicles, sports night, and news radio was ripped away but not by studio exec's but by phil hartman's wife. im sure even without that incident it would've been by studio exec's since it was hanging on by a thread after every season anyways.

Quite a few:
Tru Calling
Dark Angel
Enterprise
Jericho
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Reaper

I watch far too much TV.

I don't really understand why for canceled the Sarah Connor chronicles either. Yes, it had horrible ratings but they also put it in a death slot after it's first half season. It really seems like they didn't want to give it a chance. I really wish SciFi would pick it up and see what they could do with it. Either that or NBC since they have so many CSI type shows that would kind of play well into the genre
