Awesome new heatsink/fan combo that outperforms the rest!

Yeah I gave this same link to someone in another thread a few days ago. Looks pretty good but it is beefy as anything. I originally came across this heatsink over at Xtremesystems.org before that I had never heard of it.

meh i have a sonic tower with an 80mm fan in the middle and a 120mm fan on top, the fans blow air right into the powersupply which has a 14 cm fan there sucking air out, i guess my setup should almost equal this coolers performance :p

And it was a pain geting this thing to fit, luckily mt twinmos ram is slightly shorter. :)

But yea that fan is good as u would not have to do any weird mounting, like bent barckets to hold the fan in the middle :p

Read another review and it wasn't much better than an XP-90. Also, you don't get the options of where to blow the air, like with the scythe, so you can't have it blowing at the exhaust fan. Also, I think for silence, the scythe might be better, as it doesn't need as much airflow = less noise, to offer good cooling. Thanks for posting the review though. Also, in that other review, he had to heat and bend the bracket to install that heatsink on a DFI mobo, as a capacitor was in the way.

I would'nt worry about that - AT made a huge deal about skt939 HSF not working w. AM2 when looking at it all that's needed is two cheap clips on each side to transfer any 939 HSF to a AM2. Look for them as socket approaches.

I mean thats a big beat!

But then look here:

http://www.ocia.net/reviews/tuniq/page6.shtml

It shows the Tuniq barely beating the XP90C....

Someone is either wrong or lying

This just shows that someones test is not valid or inccorect. Someone isnt doing these tests correctly, or maybe these tests cant be compared.

I haven't looked into it thoroughly, but the Tuniq has won quite a few benchmarks which i have seen.

The thing is, when you replace the fan on the Thermaltake Big Typhoon for a better performing fan, this improves the heatsinks efficiency quite a bit, so this could be quite a decent option too.

When I finally save up the money I?ll be going for the long awaited water cooling setup anyway. I?ll be looking to cut the noise down on my PC, this is going to be a big benefit in my eyes. Bit of fun with DIY aswell.

I've had one about 10 days now. It's on a 3700+ and replaced an XP90c. I can say that my temps. are running about 3C cooler at idle which may be no big deal and is within a margin of error but, the big deal is under load. My temps. never exceed 44C with the Tuniq and used to hover around 51C. ( I have this system in my den and keep it very cool)
