hey so I've been playing the closed beta of this game for the past week.
Impressed! Good break from WoW anyway, as I prefer 2d isometric MMORPGs.

I'm not entirely sure about this one... a 9 year old Chinese game being launched in the US as "new", using a similar layout as Diablo. It "features" completely wide open PvP...

It also appears that it's "Sooo" popular that the company running the European servers shut them down in March.

According to the Wiki - apparently everything is client-side, which made cheating and exploits rampant.

A jaunt through the official forums makes ATOT look like Harvard educated people.

Sounds like fun!

Well I played Pirates of the Burning Sea during beta and I can't imagine anything being worse than that. Besides, I'll try anything once, plus it's free, so no obligation.

to answer this, yes it is quite pvp oriented. and yes the european version failed due to lack of funding of the european host, the new USA host will not have this problem. The game was never "huge" in europe as the host there always was low budget without power to advertise and buy updates from the korean game producer. In asia, it is one of the most widely played games.

and regarding the comment about everything being client-side, that is not true at all these days, a few years back maybe - it is actually a very secure game now.

try it, you'll probably be surprised that you like it

I played a bit and to be honest don't like it,no options to adjust resolution,walking and even running is done poorly,basically nothing in the game so far I like.

I created an account, verified it, then clicked the download link in the OP here and downloaded the client. I had issues after that, but non of them were because of it being in closed beta.

Is this as hardcore as UO (ie: dropped items on death, player housing, etc)? Where's the appeal?

I seem to have downloaded a trojan with this game. Antivir caught it coming out whne installing the game... Antivir caught it, but did not solve issue. Then my TF2 kept crashing. Used Malwarebytes to fix issue. You guys might want to try a scan. The virus might have been from somewhere else, but I just started experiencing the issue today right after I installed the game- was playing TF2 with no issue last night.

It definitely is unrelated to this game.

Anyway, to negative responses from people who have tried it, I have to agree somewhat. But because this is still BETA, and i've played this game before (non USA version) and know how good it is when running smoothly, i'm going to give them a chance to fix the issues (mainly the running bounceback which they say they are working on, and is the main source of complaints)
