Shamelessly clipped from TB:

$100 cheaper than last time. Uses top of line Intel 925X Chipset, more slots than 4700
Dimension 8400 Desktop P4 540 3.2Ghz 512MB DDR2/40GB Serial ATA, 48x CD, free Dell 720 printer, Free Dell 17in e173FP LCD, 128MB PCI Express Radeon X300 SE Video Card, Gigabit Ethernet, 5.1 audio $649 after $100 rebate. Exp 12/5

Suggested upgrade: 512MB DDR2-533 +$30.

Free shipping too - only downside I see is that this has only a CDROM but for another $35 you can add the CDRW

How do you get the 17in LCD? From what I can see at the site, the cheapest version of the 8400 costs 840ish.

That's a pretty good deal. My dad has an old Dell 450 mhz computer that really chugs, so he is ready for a new computer. He almost purchased one online last week when I was visiting, but I'm glad he waited because this will save him at least $120 more.

He would be in great shape with that basic set up except I suggested he upgrade the CD drive to a the 48X CDRW/DVD combo drive. He likes to play DVD's on the computer, and we could burn pictures etc to CD's when visiting.

I emailed him all the info!

He better wear a helmet and seat-belt when he turns on this one

No AGP....PCI Express!!!...so I guess no Matrox for you.

Anyone know if this comes with a full version of XP? If I buy this, I'd like to wipe it out and install a legal copy of XP Pro I have on it and use the XP Home that comes with it on another PC.

I'm sure the engineers at Dell took the power supply issue into consderation when they approved the card as a supported accessory. Perhaps they upgrade it? Flacky computers dont help the brand any.

Besides a sub 800$ system with an graphics card other than an intergrated intel POS. Hot Hot Hot!

Is this deal dead? I cannot find it on Dell. If it is dead, any other good deals on similar system?

It's dead (ended 12/5), nothing comparable right now on Dell SB. I'm sure something similar will pop up between now and Christmas.
