Awesome deal @ Blockbuster if you thinking about picking up a Ps2/Xbox/GC and want to try all the games.

Was just at the local Blockbuster and saw their latest offer, a free 30 day unlimited game rental pass. You can rent any 2 games and keep it as long as you want during the free 30 day period. There's no late fees and no limit as to how many games you can rent but you can only keep 2 out at any one time. So if you are thinking of picking up a new system, this may be a good chance to test out most of the games on the system. Just rent 2 games and if you don't like one, go back and return it and get another one. If you like it, then keep it longer without worrying about extended fees. I'm thinking about picking up an Xbox of GC.

Anyone know what their return policy is? (I'm assuming you have to buy the system from Blockbuster)

yes the pass comes with the system. i'm assuming their return policy is the same as any other retailer. let me guess, you wanna buy it, use the pass up and get free gaming for 30 days and then return it ? :)

Naughty Naughty. :D

Are BB's prices on the consoles down to $199 like the rest of the world?

that's better than they were, used to bed $30 for a game pass. valid for one calendar month, starting on the first of the month.

Since BB's do not have a shared nationwide database, would going to neighboring ones and getting 2 from each with the same pass work? It's been known to work before w/ Shrek passes...

if you do this make sure you pick a BB location by you that actually has the games in stock that you will want to try. when certain games are released they are never in stock for weeks at my local blockbusters. this could make this deal very cold.

The problem with this is that unless Blockbuster ups their inventory a heck of a lot, games are going to be tough to find once a lot of people have gotten this pass. I'm getting a pass after I come back from the July 4th holiday, but I expect it to be a bit difficult to find the best games whenever I want.

Even still, constantly rotating entertainment for $20 a month is pretty sweet! :)

the $30 pass that BB used to offer only allowed one rental out per day if i'm correct and has extended fees. i agree about checking whether or not your local blockbuster has the games you want first because the pass will only work at that specific location.

to be honest, i don't think a lot of people will take advantage of the offer for the games to be out consistently. people will probably rotate games everyday if possible so your chances of finding the games you want might be greater than some regular joe keeping it for 5 days.

btw, i was told by the BB employee that there is no set date for the offer to be pulled. it will be pulled by headquarters based on how successful the promotion turns out.

Guys the freedom pass (which is the name of the game pass) can only be used at the store it was purchased from. You do not get a coupon card like the previous shrek promotion with a barcode. it is tied directly to your account *ONLY* at the store purchased. Its a great buy if you play at least 3+ games in 30 days. As for when the promotion ends, it would appear that the latest it will run is 9/02/02. They mainly do these as summer promotions based on customer satisfaction. There is also a dvd pass similar to this one coming out in the coming weeks keep your eye out for it.
Yes, Blockbuster has a similar return policy like all other stores about the game hardware. But like all other stores it has to be within the 30 alloted days. But seriously if you are gonna buy a system get it from them and try out the games for free before you layout money for them. Also this is a suggestion to anyone who buy's or gets a freedom pass, when you are returning games, and renting out new ones, do it all at the same time. For example: don't drop your returns in the drop box outside the store and walk in pick out your games and go to rent them, the employee's have to check in your games before they can rent the new ones out to you or you will be charged, it will save you time to just do it together and them a headache of looking for your returns.

do you think they will charge you for the freedom pass if you return the system before the 30 days?

I highly doubt they will charge you for the use of it if you return your system, but I do suspect that they may cancel out the freedom pass from the day the system is returned. I'm not sure how it will be handled but if I can I will find out soon.

well they would be losing money if they don't charge you for the pass. i mean they gave you the pass on the condition that you buy the system. but if i'm wrong then this might be a perfect opportunity for someone to kill time over the summer. try out each 3 systems for 30 days free :)

Also a nice bonus is the free gamepass rentals count as paid Rewards Rental. After 2 weeks of the gamepass I have already earned two free rentals, good towards anything.

Also for those worried about games being in stock, check with your local Blockbuster, the one near me has a major restock due this week. They are expecting 200+ titles of older games .
