Awesome ball bearing and magnet demonstration

That was amazing; but it confused the bejeezus out of me. 😕

How the heck is that possible? OK, you generate and manipulate a magnetic field...got that. But the ball bearings are metal...wouldnt' they all clump together once the magnetism is applied? How do they keep them evenly spaced from each other like that?

I'd be very interested in learning the exact technical means for doing this!
 
saw this before. pretty sure they were lowered by tethers... the video I saw were of higher quality so you could see the tethering. I don't think we have the technology to do this with magnetic fields.

AHA! I just knew there was no possible way that could be real. So they're all on strings, huh? I'd still like to see the mechanisms involved in moving all of those balls like that.
