I mean think about it. Of all the smileys is there any one that can compare to this one? It has so many uses, and fits in 99% of all situations.

Thread: I need a recommendation for a meat dish.
Response: I have a meat dish for you :awe:

Thread: I just won a million dollars.
Response: And you're going to share it with all of us right? :awe:

Thread: I am the smartest person in the world.
Response: Your last thread was "How do I make a jelly sammich"... :awe:

So many faces, so many uses. But only one is near and dear to my heart. So, a tribute to you Mr Smiley, you brighten up my day.

:awe::awe::awe::awe::awe::awe:

D:

is actually better

the old /confused/ really was the best ever, but it requires hackery to get it working with vBulltetin. 😡

I can see how you would think that is better than :awe: but that is only because the eyes and mouth are just :awe: rotated. It might be astigmatism or cataracts.

But its not a smiley, its an awe.

It is listed under the category of smilies therefore it is a smiley. You're digging too deep into the semantics, which is borderline smiley-racism.

I bet you only see color when you see  and

Thumbs up and thumbs down are also listed, now what?

D: is more universal.

just accept it and move on.

No. Just....no. Happiness is slightly more universal than sadness, which I would like to think these two represent.

:awe: > D: in all cultures.

If you can post 100 examples of where D: is more universal than :awe:, then maybe I will reconsider my position.

D: works in all of your OP examples.

so there's a start.

just embrace it.

and that isn't sadness. why would you think it's sadness? It's terror, disgust, fear, all sorts of things. Do you have Asperger's?
:hmm:

I thought that was a mandatory condition required for ATOT? :awe:

Probably the same face all the trolls make when they start up a thread like, "Google offered me a job today", or as some may put it, "Google accepted me for a job offer!".

"ISIS just burned a guy to death :awe:"

Nope. This emoticon is not universally fitting.

"ISIS just burned a guy to death D:"

That's more appropriate.
