AWARENESS: what would you if you are on a hi-jacked plane???

After reading all the news and forums, I began to think what I would do if i were in a plane that is being hi-jacked...

There are reports off AA attendants who died trying to prevent the terrorist from entering the cockpit. It is pointless to comment what "would have been" the right actions against the terrorist during the hi-jacking, but what i want to ask is, what "would be" the right actions to take against the future terrorist during the hi-jacking.

The point im trying to make is that if i were on a hi-jacked plane in the near future, i would instantly think that im going die while flying into some political building. I would then realize that death is inevitable then i would somehow try to attack the hi-jackers (in hope that enough people will join me to stop them). Sure there is a great chance that i would be killed but at least i am trying to prevent thousands of people dying...

Nonetheless, i realize that there is no right and wrong answer... just opinions... and i was wondering what the rest of forumers would do... ;)

I never fly alone. Hopefully its not my girl I'm flying with but some of my buddies. 3-5 terrorists? They won't always be together and if me and 2 of my buddies take one or two of em down, all the other guys in the plane will join us in some T ass-whoopin.

I think now that if a terrorist tries to take over an american flight that the people on the plane fear for their lives and fight back

I think there's gonna be less tolerance from any kind of act of violence on an airline flight now, as people are aware of the danger. Even raising your voice might cause you to get tackled.

I'm sure that the people on the plane had no idea that they were headed towards a building. In most hijackings, the planes are safely landed and the passengers held hostage, until the hijackers demands are met. The people onboard probably had no idea about their future, especially the ones that hit the WTC. At least, that is my guess....

yeap... guess what im trying to do is just to bring awareness what regular people can do if they were in this particular situation...

for instance, pepper spray, mace, luggage bags, etc... anything can affect the outcome...

If i were on the planes today, i would have had no idea on what to do and would have thought that there's a chance the terrorist would give up.

Now i realize terrorist sent to the u.s. have one simple mentality, and that's to carry out their mission.

It is sad if this were to happen in the future, and for the innocents to go down without a fight.

i think that after today's events, people will respond to a hijacking situation very differently.

people comply with a hijacker's demands in the hopes that by meeting them, the plane will be allowed to land and the passengers allowed to disembark safely. after today, people on a hijacked aircraft can no longer make that assumption.

and if they operate under the assumption that they are all going to die anyway, they will conclude they have nothing left to lose. and they will fight the terrorists on board. the ones who took over the planes today were armed with nothing more than handmade weapons. there might have been some injuries had any passengers attempted to overcome them, but there is a good chance that they would have been overwhelmed by sheer force of numbers.

can you imagine how the tragedies might have been averted had the passengers on board ganged up on the terrorists? i'm not saying that they should have known how the flight would have turned out, but i think that there will be a dramatic change in the way people respond to any hijacking from now on.

You can't possibly assume anything could have been done differently. I am sure the terrorists used psychological tactics to keep the hostages calm. They probably promised "nobody would get hurt" kinda thing. You have to remember the passengers are not military, or have any kind of training in this regard. Even a five minute brouchure on what to do in a terrorist attack would have helped the unknowing.

As the news reported about the phone calls made form the last plane, the a**holes kicked the crew out of the cockpit and locked the door, now what? There is not a thing you can do.

I dont think many people would still have the courage to do anything, there's the possibility that you'll take severe hits from the knife and die bleeding.

I dunno... if I knew I was going to die anyway... I believe I would have tried something - hard to say tho! I would have tried to signal someway to other people to attack as well. Attack with large group of people - preferably all the men in the plane attacking at once. It might have worked, there was only few terrorists.
