Jumping the shark is a reference to the "Happy Days" Episode where Fonzie jumps the shark tank on waterskis. It generally is used to indicate when any pop culture phenomenon takes that one step to far, alienating it's fan base.

That being said, does anyone know what song that was? Not too up on the whole Avril scene.
