As in, this game:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_versus_Predator_2

My hardware:
http://www.mikeymike.org.uk/mikes/mypc.txt

Most of the game runs OK (albeit looking a bit dated), however if I encounter a face-hugger, they move so impossibly fast that there's no chance of me tracking and killing one as a marine. This is the first time I played the game on this combination of hardware, apparently the last time I completed it was when I had the ATI 5770 installed (I don't recall having such an issue with it then).

I'm running the game at 1080p, 'best' detail levels. I'm trying to think of some way to slow it down a bit. I'm trying an application profile in the nvidia driver for avp2.exe with everything maxed out (and vsync on half the refresh rate) in the hope of slowing it down a bit. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

NV drivers include a frame rate limiter, though I always enabled it through Inspector, so I'm not exactly sure how to enable it in the standard driver interface.

The one prior to that was better anyway imo although I don't know if it runs any better.

What?

WHAT?

Uh, no.

The original AvP was riddled with problems like bad gameplay, downright downs syndrome AI, and bugs up the wazoo.

AvP2 fixed all of that and had a great human/alien campaign. The pred campaign was still fun, but had some problems. AvP2 had MUCH better story telling, better character model animations, a better storyline, better cinematics, literally better everything.

I havent played it recently so I could not tell you. Last time I ran it I still used Windows XP SP2.

Maybe I should dig up the discs?

Just to make sure we are talking about the made for Windows 98 AVP and the made for Windows ME AVP2 right. Not the 2010 AVP rehash?

Nevermind, Definitely the older stuff.

You might be right but I know AVP got more acclaim back in the day. The campaign stuff wasn't great, but I think the MP for AVP was nothing but awesome.

You should try the multiplayer for AVP2 :awe: It's epic.

The 2010 AVP rehash multiplayer is fun, too.

I spent countless hours in multiplayer AvP2... That game was a blast! Thanks for bringing up the good memories.
