Since Symphony used to be PC only I wonder if the DS's will go Mac in the future...

It's software and propriatary hardware. :) And yes it's d@mn expensive.

It's about time, but I hope they don't have some of the problems I've heard with FCP 3 in OSX.

I wonder if the PC versions will be cheaper, or if they are just going to up the cost for all the systems so that they match.

What problems are you refering to w/FCP, and I'd assume the prices would be the same. The Compaq workstations cost as much the PowerMacs do. Even if there was a price difference I don't think Avid would pass it on the buyers (I mean, they are selling $54k and up systems, do they care 'bout a $200 difference). And on the flip side, people are spending $54k and up for an NLE. Do you think $200 is that big a deal if you are already spending at least $54k?

We got a Beta Symphony on OS X right now at my work We are on Beta 3 it has a lot of bugs but I can see the potential it will be a lot faster to Render and it is getting closer to real time online system.
