Have K-Lite codec pack on my system and was listening to mp3s on what turned out to be a corrupted CD-R. Anyway, WMP gave me some error message about unloading something. Next thing I know, AVIs don't work anymore! I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling K-Lite to no avail. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated . . . My system restore is not enabled.

Perhaps I should describe this a bit more. AVIs do open and I hear sound, but there is no image save for 5 or so small colored lines. It looks like if the lines were bigger, I might be able to see something going on back there--kinda like looking through blinds, if you know what I mean.

Also, can you view the files in other media players? Have you tried VLAN, or MPC?

VLC, and Theatertek come with their own built-in codecs and are free from most issues like this. This seems to be a common problem for people who install "codec packs". I'd uninstall k-lite and get yourself the latest xvid, and divx codecs. If you use real, or quicktime, look for Media Player Classic and the plugins for them.

Same thing happens when running MPC . . . Not sure if it's K-lite's fault or WMP. Will try uninstalling again then.
