I've been using AVG Free Edition for about a year now with no problems -- wonderful little program! But good things don't last: lately, my computer either freezes or BSODs every time I run a complete test. I'm running WinXP Home on my AMD 1.2Ghz w/ 512MB RAM.
Pure speculation follows: I recently installed Neverwinter Nights on my computer, which was so crash-happy that I had to remove it. Specifically, the game (wait for it) would either freeze or BSOD on a regular basis. I uninstalled it while I wait for a patch, to find that the disease had apparently spread to AVG.
I have since uninstalled AVG as well, reinstalled WinXP, and then reinstalled the newest AVG (NWN is still gone). No dice: it still crashes each and every time I run a complete test.
What should I do? Please let me know if you need more information.
