AVG - removing infections

Alright, I use AVG Free Edition for my virus protection, which has treated me well lately. Just recently, I did a scan and found a couple infections. AVG has buttons that say "Remove selected infections" and "remove all unhealed infections." Does this mean remove from my PC? Or just remove from my AVG database? If it is the latter, how do I remove these from my PC?

Thanks :) !

It's referring to removing the infected files from your PC. The reason why you get a choice of selected vs all is that if a critical system file is one of those infected and you remove it, your system may not work properly afterwards.

Anything you're not sure of post back before removal

Cookies are pretty benign, though some are used by marketers to track your browsing habits. You can safely remove these. Other cookies are used to keep track of you online, such as userids (the userid is usually not in the cookie itself); AnandTech and many other sites use this so you don't have to log on every time you visit the forums.

Browsers allow you to delete all cookies if you want. Doing this would delete the tracking cookies you probably don't want as well as the ones you do. I clean out my cookies every so often.

If you are interested, you can view most cookies as they are .TXT files, though the coding used probably won't make much sense.

Good luck!
