Aren't there a couple of viruses that specifically target antivirus programs and websites? Could it be something like that?

I can't download from 4 different workstations...

Anyone knows what is going on??

I guess manual update is going to be the way to go.

I can't update using the defualt free.grisoft.cz server, either. It's possible, however, to add other update servers to AVG's url.ini file. Search around on Google and you should be able to find the information. Once you edit url.ini you'll be able to once again update from within AVG.

I had a similar issue a few days ago. It could not locate the update server, so I canceled it. However, a few minutes later I was informed that the update was complete, and it restarted to enact the changes.

I think it must just be bandwidth problems. It's happened to me before and if I just wait 5-10 minutes and try again it works fine.

Create a new text file with wordpad or notepad. Copy/paste this text into that file.

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=3

Save this file as url.ini in your avg directory. Shut down avg and restart it... select the 3rd option and retry the download. I'm not sure what's going on with grisoft's website, but this fixes it.

I got the update at 3am after trying multiple times during the day. It was 2 mpg. Anyone know what is in this thing to make the file so large?

Lots of new bugs out there -- how long had it been since your last update? I updated today and it was less than 50k

I'm tired with the fact that I cannot download updates.
I will try modifying the url.ini file as well.

Maybe I am starting to go towards purchasing...

I've done some research and found that the BEST antivirus is Eset (www.nod32.com)
Anyone had experience with it?

Mine had problems, saying it couldn't find a connection but it finally
worked and downloaded the update after several tries.
