I have an Averatec desktop (I think it's the all-in-one model). HOW do I disable the sound card? The sound is all garbled and staticky. My boyfriend placed an external sound card but we can't figure out how to disable the original sound card. It is part of the motherboard. Any ideas??

I haven't researched the model, but usually, that would be a setting in the BIOS.

I'll let the person helping me with this know that. Thanks for responding, though I find your tagline idiotic.

Once you are in the BIOS, it will have several menus (i.e. Main, Advanced, Power, Security, Boot, and Exit). The one you want is the Advanced Menu. Under the Advanced menu, select the option (it is probably the last one in the list) for Onboard Device Settings. This is almost certainly where the option to turn off motherboard features like the integrated sound and/or video will be located.

FYI, the person helping you can download the user manual for your system at the following web link:

http://www.trigem.com/support/manuals.asp

I'd access it using Internet Explorer, though, as the website seems to have issues with other web browsers (it throws errors with Firefox and Chrome about content being corrupted on downloads).

That's OK. I don't find your question idiotic, just uninformed, but it didn't stop me from offering some help. Maybe you should consider yourself uninformed about other matters, as well... maybe even about what's in my sig.

Who knows? You may even learn something about computers and more.
