I'm considering buying one of the Averatec 3200-somethings because they look nice, they're light, and they're cheap 🙂

I would love to hear anybody's experience with this laptop! I saw it once at Circuit City and my only gripe is that the keyboard felt a bit shoddy.

Your thoughts???

Um... they're cheap, but I've heard bad stories about shoddy construction... I don't know personally so check it out. WARRANTY is a BIG deal when it comes to laptops...

I have the 3225hs, and it has held up relatively well being drug around campus in my backpack. The only issues I have with it are that the case is easily scratched and the keyboard can mark the screen even under light pressure. It's to the point where the LCD bezel actually rubs the casing around the keyboard and rubs the paint off of both areas. I purchased it through microcenter and invested in the extended and screen replacement warranties, probably something I will use shortly before it expires to get a pristine screen with no marks. Other than that though it's one of the lightest laptops for around $1000, as low as $700 if you catch the right deals and rebates.

Agreed w/ everything dementedlemur said. Got mine for $700 after rebates as well. I had to RMA mine due to a mark left on screen by keyboard.

I've read from Toms Hardware that there is only 1 Memory PORT.

So be sure to spend extra $$$ initially and buy the one with more memory,
or you will have to throw away the existing memory.

How is the battery life with AMD PowerNow?
