Average WU Time?

Sorry for the noobish question but I was just wondering if anyone knows what the average WU crunching time for a machine w/specs similar to mine might be? I don't know what the average on my system is yet, but it's somewhere between 2.5-3hrs w/Seti Driver priority on "high" and no other programs running (except my firewall and internet conn)
-AXP 2400+ @ 2270MHz (151MHz FSB/302MHz DDR) @ 1.75V
-512MB PC2700 DDR DIMM (all settings @ maximum) @ 2.8V
-20GB WD 7200RPM HD
-Chaintech GF4 Ti4200 128MB 8x (280 core/570 mem) w/31.00 Det's & Rivatuner 2.0 RC12.2 @ 1.8V
-MSI KT3 Ultra 2 mobo w/7.00t BIOS & 4.43 Via 4-in-1's
-Windows 2000 Pro w/SP 3
-.NET architecture installed
-DX 9
-IE 6 w/SP 1
-CLI Seti 3.03 w/Seti Driver

hey Flyermax2k3, welcome🙂

just so you know, you can go ahead and set the "priority" on seti driver to low. it shouldn't change you times much if at all. it will also make your box more "usable"😉 the important thing for seti times is to have that fsb oc'd which you do😀

Welcome Flyermax2k3 🙂

Nice rig you've got 🙂 ,you know you could speed SETI up considerable by upping the FSB/Mem & lowering the multiplier.
Atm your on 15x151MHz ,if you lowered the multiplier to 14x & raised the FSB to 162MHz you'd still be running your cpu at about the same MHz but with faster RAM🙂.Seeing as you have DDR 333 RAM it should still be able to run with low latencies at that speed.Or you could go for 13.5x168 or 13x175 if your RAM can take it😉
Forgot to say ,seeing as your mbrd has the KT333 chipset(right?) you would need to unlock your cpu to use the lower multipliers(possibly just 1 bridge too)

And as Marrkks said you can leave the priority on low & it'll barely affect WU times.
WU times for your current setup seem about right ,my XP1700 @1.9GHz (152MHz FSB,CAS2-2-2-6) also does them from between 2.5-3hrs.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice everyone! I've been doing some thinking lately, however, and I think I would rather donate my spare CPU time to a different DC cause like F@H but am unfamiliar with this program. Could anyone give me an idea of the average WU time for F@H? I was under the impression that F@H completes more WUs in the same amount of time S@H does. Is this correct or am I off-base here? I suppose the time isn't all that important... The only reason I ask is because I actually had F@H installed for a short period of time just to see what it was like and if it was any faster than S@H but it seemed to be slower. Then again, I was running the screensaver and not the CLI client...

Thanks in advance

Afaid I don't much about F@H ,your best bet is to start a new thread asking about F@H WU times,I'm pretty sure you'll get a rapid response🙂

not too bad my p1-166 runs at around 52hr wu's.
the p1-133 runs around 60hr wu's.

but the time differences you're seeing in the 350vs400could be a difference in chipsets/implementation, or programs running in the background. or your bios settings may simply need to be tweeked.

Anyone else notice something wrong with this? I have both a 350 and a 400 and (obviously) the 400 is definitely faster.

What lobadobadingdong said 😉
I was involved with submitting most of those times to the TA S@H FAQ page ,all the WU times submitted are from TA members ,the thread is probably still in the archives if you want to see the details.
But your right that the PII 400 WU time submitted there is not typical ,I have run SETI CLi on a PII 400 with RAM at CAS 3-2-2 & it was doing WUs in about 13.25 hrs,I guess I could get Virge to alter that time to a more typical one.............though I think he was cussing after the load of WU times I gave him last time😉
