Average temps for a stock e6600

I just got my new e6600 system put together last night. I am using a Zalman CNPS9500 to cool it, and using some thermal paste that was included with a thermalright xp-120 I got for another system. Right now it is running idle around 33C and load around 36-38. Just wondering if that is normal.

I have been an AMD person for a few years, and have not been keeping up with the Intel side of things until recently. I don't know what to expect for this thing. I did a quick search, but nothing came up. This thing sure beats the hell out of my old X2 4800+

Thanks.

thats rather cool for load ... how long and how did you load it? Just curious that is pretty good temps. How cool is the room that cpu is in as well?

People with OC's run from 50-70C at load on average

I only loaded it for an hour or so, so its not a real good comparison really. I was just wanting to see how the zalman cooler really worked, but since I don't have any idea as to what these chips really run on, I don't know how low that is or not.

The room this computer is in is around 60F or so, maybe a little less (I like it cold in my house). Thanks for the input though, it appears that it appears to be running well with that cooler.

Like I said, I have not had a chance to really let it chew on something for very long, I am trying to work on 3 machines at once. Once this one was up and running, I started working on others.

I am gonna let it chew on two instances of prime95 over the weekend, to see if it helps break in that thermal paste I used (cheapo stuff, could not find my tube of AS5). I will see how the temps are when I get back on sunday. That should be a good way to get it to load I would think.

What are you using to measure those temps? You should download Intel's TAT and let us know what temps it reports.

Also is your E6600 stock? I have mine at 3.4 and it runs around 55 or so at idle and in the low 60's at full load. Specs below.

Yes, mine is at stock.

I am just using the Asus probe utility that they have for download on their support site. I will try the intel utility when I get back home on Sunday, thanks for the heads up.

I am going to let it run a bit before I try overclocking. Even at stock it is noticeably faster than my overclocked X2 4800+ that I had.

i never see my E6600 in 30's. of course I dont run stock, I OC to 3.6 around 43-45 load, 3.8ghz at 47-50 load. all cool under Fusion Waterblock. my room is very warm too.

Well, your load temperature -- if your room ambient is between 60F and 70F, sounds about right. I assume you used a program like ORTHOS to load the E6600. Some other programs do not apparently load the processor sufficiently.

My system whether OC'd to 1,333 FSB and DDR2-667, or run at stock settings, my idle temperature is about five or six C degrees below the usual motherboard temperature of 30C, and will heat up to between 38 and 41C under load. I would rather the processor stay as warm as the motherboard, but I'll worry about that later.

I'm using a ThermalRight Ultra 120 cooler. It has a slightly lower thermal resistance than the Zalman CNPS-9500, so I would expect to get a slightly narrower swing between idle and load than with your processor and cooler. But apparently, I only get lower idle values.

Well, I let it run all weekend, and the load tempuature was up around 50C. I am also not using the Asus probe utility to measure the the temps, I am now using Everest Ultimate Edition. This program shows much higher idle and load temps than the Asus utility did. Now it is running 39-40C idle, and up to 46-48C for load. The room is around 70 right now though.

I was just playing around with the and everything, and I noticed that as soon as I opened the door of the case, the idle temps went down from 39C to 33C in less than a minute.

I think it is the 8800GTX that is sitting about 3 inches from the CPU cooler. That thing puts off more heat than anything else in the case, I think with the door closed, it makes the case temp go up even more. There is good airflow in this case (the case is a Thermaltake Armor).
