The fan appears to be a Coolermaster TF9-25IM-74 12V 0.20A. I bought this about 2 years ago in the UK because it was comparable with a SmartFan II running at full whack i.e. Around 74cfm @ 5500rpm. Can't find where I got it from or the specs. on the Coolermaster site.

hmmm....it looks like I actually got a manchester, as the stepping ends in "BV". Haven't popped it in yet, this will be my last post as a single core user! Wish me luck.

That fan only blows 50CFM at 34dBA. :confused:70CFM at 30dBA is not possible for a 92mm fan.

I just got my X2 3800+ yesterday. It overclocks to 2.5ghz with only 1.4v but seems to need alot more to get over that mark. Will boot into windows just fine at 2.6ghz and higher but not stable at all. I will have to do a lot of tweaking over the weekend. :)

I tend to agree with you - I have a YS Tech FD129225MB-N 0.16A which is rated at 55CFM @ 32dba which didn't make any difference to my temperatures when I tested it last year - I guess the site I bought it from read the 74 on the fan as it's CFM. Will alter my signature...

HELP!!!

Ok, I just bought a amd x2 3800+, ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard, and 2 gb (1gbx2) corsair xms ddr 3200 speed ram (TWINX2048-3200c2). I have a thermaltake big typhoon for my heatsink.

My question is what are good settings for overclocking. I have hit 2.5 ghz but I'm not sure that I did it in the best possible way. I have no idea what this whole divider thing is about and I don't see a way to change it on my BIOS at all. I can play with timing on my ram (2.5-3-3-7) and speed (ddr 333, ddr 400, etc) but I don't see where you can play with dividers anywhere...or maybe I'm just really stupid.

I have my memory at ddr 333 (which I'm not sure why I can't run at 400 when OCing) with timings of 2.5-3-3-7 @ 1T. My Voltage is set to auto because when I set it to an amount I can't POST.

My CPU is set at 250x10 which is 2.5 ghz. I have the voltage at 1.4 volts. But this thing runs right now at 44c idle and 57c in prime95 (is this normal??? I see others with much lower temps...I thought I bought a good heatsink.)

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Oh yeah, My room is hot right now (about 80 F) so I wonder if that has to do with my higher then everyone else temps. Please let me know)

Ok, can someone also tell me a good temperature monitoring program to use. One program I have says I'm at 44c idle and 57 under full load (everest ultimate edition) while my other program is 4c lower in both regards...can someone tell me what is a good prog to use please. Maybe everest is just way off or something.

Okay, AngelOfProgress:

Your RAM is set to DDR333, which is the 166 divider.

If you want to OC much higher than what are you are presently at, you will likely have to use the 133 divider, or on your board, it'll say DDR266.
A RAM divider means the RAM is running at a fraction of the HTT (FSB) speed.

For monitoring temps, there are various programs. 57C does seem a bit hot, but not overly hot. Your sensor may be slightly off, but you could always reseat your heatsink if you aren't sure you did it properly.

Speedfan, Motherboard Monitor 5, & Asus has a utility also.

If you have your memory set to 333, then you're using a divider. If you have it set to 400/200 (1:1), then you're not using a divider. 44c idle seems a bit high. It should probably be below 40 at idle. Your load doesn't seem too bad though. I would try SpeedFan, but it would pretty much tell you the same temps as Everest.

if anyone sees this and uses S&M to stress test, can you please go check out This Thread and post your thoughts?

Since my room right now is like 90 degrees F, could that have something to do with my high idle temp? It should drop to about 60 F here tomorrow...gotta love Nebraska temperatures...always changing from one extreme to another.

Heh, Everest is a silly program. When I have my 3800+ overclocked to 2.4 GHZ (240X10) everest thinks it's a 4600+. This is funny to me.

Go liquid cooling :D Also i heard that motherboard is kinda bugged if u plug in the gigbit lan. :X also u might want to drop your multiplier to 9x and increase your fsb. i realized it runs much more stable that way. right now im at 9x 311 fsb. voltage is at 1.43 according to cpu-z. and also get a better heat sink for sure. :X even when it hits around 85F my computer still idles at around 33-35. but thats with liquid cooling. My room mate bought the thermaltake BT. Same condition he idles at around 40 with 2.6ghz at 1.39V. iono im still waiting for a response on that guy who got the manchester core. I want to know how well that baby can oc since my roomie and i both have toledo's.

I think it was my room temperature that was screwing me on my temps for my CPU. I now run 32 idle and about 38 full load. Very nice in the colder months...not so much in the summer. But I guess thats what AC is for right? Thanks for all the help guys.

Just popped in my X2 3800+ and dialed right up to 2400mhz.... (240 x 10) no problem on stock voltage.... Unbelievable to pay for this cpu and have 4800+ performance with 2 minutes of bios tweaking... no problem whatsoever.... sweet.

what sort of oc can I expect from my spec which is :

CPU : AMD 3800+ X2
Mobo : DFI Lanparts SLI nF4 DR
GFX : Aoelus 7800 GTX
Sound : Creative XFI Fatality FPS
RAM : GeIL One W BH 2 GIG ( CAS 1.5 ) 4 sticks at 512
HD : WD Raptor 74GB / Cavier 324 GB
PSU : OCZ 520 Powerstream
Cooling : Thermaltake Bigtyphoon / 6 fans

I want to aim for 2.7 stable will this be acheivable?

well, if those are actually your specs, then you've got all the right pieces, its just getting it all to fall together. Most X2s are doing at least 2.5, 2.7 shouldn't be out of your reach if you know what you're doing.

I'd like to update mine, I'm currently doing 2.5GHz at 1.312vcore which is default volts. I think my epox sensor is borked though, because in an open case, with open windows and 55F air, its reporting 95F case temps and 61C (151F) load temps. This is with 2xF@H instances running for about a week now. I've taken of the HSFU (what a PITA) and reapplied AS5, so maybe the curing will drop it a bit, but that still seems awfully high. I feel like this chip will go as far as I'm willing to take it, its just I'm not sure on temps. Board can do 290HTT easy as pie, did it with my winchester, so I'm good there...

Expect one rediculous OC from me I'm going to push it as far as it can go that's the reason I baught the 3800 X2 as its cheap and will give you the same performance as the 4800 in games when OC'd, im waiting till after christmas to upgrade to the second gen X2's.

Some people here are unlucky enough to get chips that won't even do 2.3GHz, at 1.5V. Luck of the draw.

so is the toledo core the one you want, which one wont do 2.3ghz at 2.5v? anyway to assure oneself of getting the good ocer?

I have the Manchest E4 version heard bad things and good things about this chip to be honest we will have to see when I start overclocking as most of the reviews and comments are biased in this way its hard to get anyone with a straight answer especially on the net.
