Blah...

Just got a

CCBWE 0529 (CD ending which is supposed to be E6 and its not )

Right now I am having a hell of a time with this chip..

Dropped memory speeds to DDR 333
Disabled On baord audio

LDT @ 4x
230x10
1.525 + 8.3 = 1.52v ( way to high for this speed )
AGP @ 67
VDIMM @ 2.85

Blue screens galore @ lesser voltages and speeds around 2.4ghz

Lots to play with still though..

BIOS 1V.a

One thing is for sure, I don't have 2.8ghz @ 1.375!!

:p

Bastards!

Switched to new B mod BIOS..

Still no luck..

Going to run Prime @ stock speeds and with mem timings of 2-2-2-5 @ 1T

This chip is looking like a loser..

Might have mad ea bad decision on 2.8ghz SC vs. <2.3ghz on Dual core..

I would try cas 2-3-2-5 at least....Also try 1.9 official it is rock solid for most everyone...If you TCCD chipset make sur eyou run 1A TCCD versions...some of the ram timings trust me you would hav enever though of but they actually make a big difference....

I have issues running cas 2-2-2-5 even at 380ddr on my system when it ran fine with the winchester at that at 400ddr.....your tiomings may be too aggressive and the other dozen or so timings you dont see or have access to change...very finicky...

Hmm..

Well after messing around some more, it seems it is a memory issue.

I had it set @ 183 mhz in the DRAM ( which I thought locked the memory @ 183 )

But when set to 10x230 in CPU-Z that reports a 209mhz...

I am now @ 2.4ghz (166) = 200mhz exactly.. Running 2T just to be sure..

Didn't change anything as far as voltage excpet + 5.0%

running 1.42 loaded.. I will next drop to the 133 as I go for 2.5ghz..

Very, very odd..

Ill keep you posted.

Remember how the memory speed is set...

multiplier being used / (divider you set/200 ) = X round to nearest whole number teh take cpu speed/X

Example...

10 / (183.333/200) = 10.93...rounded to 11 2300/11 = 209...right on the money.....

10 / (166.667/200) = 11.9999....rounded to 12 2400/12 = 200 for 400ddr.....

TankGuys

:D

Now pushing 2650 @ 1.47-1.49v

51C loaded.

Priming now..

I am afraid to give it 1.55 so I might end up stopping around 2.6 or possibly 2.7 on 1.52v or so..

:D

Awesome.. Hopefully you get a good chip...

2600mhz is probably where I will settle in..

I could probably squeeze 2700mhz with 1.55v, but it's not worth it to me..

Temps look awesome as of now, and my fan isn't even pushing its max 2800rpms..

:D

Volts vary from 1.47-1.49

bjc112 I assume if your running DDR 520 thats 260Mhz I will try 2.5/3/3/6 @ 311x9 and see what sort of benches I get with that.

n7 can you point me in the direction of how to decode the chip markings?

I'm a tad intoxicated right now, so i'm just gonna copy n paste my CPU revision notepad file:

I was trying so hard to delay buying an X2 till they got cheaper, but i have managed to justify purchasing one sometime in the next 30ish days.
Bad influencing from teh forums

:p

I could push 2.7ghz but the extra volts aren't worth it.

I am now about 4 hours deep on Prime..

2600 should be a shoe in @ this voltage..

*sigh*

These forums are such a bad influence. :D

After my camping vacation in late Sept., it's gonna be time for some X2 goodness :)

Edit: The 1.A bios is treatin' you well?

Edit:
I was hoping to get at least 20% or 2400 Ghz...is this normal?

If you get 2400GHz I will worship you until the end of time :p

ok ok...2.4 Ghz or 2400 hz!!!

Nope, still not right. 2400MHz. 2400000Hz. :D

Still Wrong Dinkus :D

1Mhz = 1 million Hz. Thus 2400Mhz = 2,400,000,000 Hz, or 2.4Ghz, your pick :)

Switched to 1.b Mod..

:D

Working out as of now..

I am bouncing between DDR 470 and 500..

Once I nail down my memory timings Im good to go..

bjc112 looks like it is hit and miss with which core we get.

I got mine from Savastore.com in the UK.

With regards to the voltages I think they are capped (On the Neo2 Plat that is) @ 1.5 - 1.52volts. Currently running 1.55 + 10% but the BIOS, speedfan & cpuz all read 1.488 to 1.520.

Now lets see where I can get to stably...

So as of right now.. What are you prime stable at?

I think I can be prime stable @ 2700mhz, but just isn't worth the extra heat and volts..

If I could pull 2.7 on 1.47-1.49 I'll do it..

my temps are pretty damn good @ 53c loaded!

:D

I've just tried priming at 2.9Ghz which fails after 7 minutes - much as I expected.

2.95Ghz fails after a minute.
3Ghz will run but drops to BSOD very quickly.

I've bumped my voltage back to 1.4v because of a single lock up. {have updated my signature}

Prime stable for 3 hours @ 2.8Ghz/1.4v which I'm happy with.

I'm now considering water-cooling to get to the 3Ghz mark stably but I don't think the cost is justifiable (not for just 200Mhz) until I retire my Neo2 plat, 3000+ and XP90 into my PVR.
