Average Intel cpu Core Temp?

Hello gang,

I've just setup my new box (New to overclocking) and I'd like to get your feedback on what you all know to be a good core temperature is for an Intel P4 2.4C.

Do any of you have this cpu and can you tell me what your average core temperature is?

Mine's running at 34.8 C

Thats cool. Your fine as long as you don't get up around 70c under load.

I purchased the SP94 by Thermalright and slapped on a Vantec Tornado fan to do the cooling.

This is the first computer I've ever built and I've never considered monitoring the cpu temp so I have no idea what the norm is, especially with this cpu and motherboard.

I seriously doubt the accuracy of MB temp sensors. I recebtly replaced only the MB in a system and nothing else and temps dropped about 15c. 🙁

I have 2 identical systems based on the Asus A7N8X Deluxe MB and one reads 10c cooler than the other. 🙁

 

Is it possible that your last mobo was overvolting the cpu?

that's pretty good... mine's running at 45-60 (idle-load) on an IS7
