It's THE landmark film for 3D, and for good-reason; the 3D effect, cinematography, and visual-effects quality, are just absolutely superb. That is the exact kind of 3D I'd want in my home, that I want directors to focus on - not the shitty, in-your-face, post-processing job, but truly filmed in 3D and not in a way that is focusing on gimmicks but rather Depth of Field and immersion into the scene. That is what I loved about Avatar.
The movie itself was completely "Meh", but the 3D was awesome.

I refuse to ever watch Avatar in 2D. It's not a movie I really care to watch, but it is a fun experience in 3D. Because that level of 3D is just that, an experience.

I am looking forward for the movies that will be using the same type of camera system used in Avatar, which include: the new Resident Evil, Tron: Legacy, Transformers 3, and in a few years Cameron will return with Battle Angel.

Saw the movie in 3D.

I thought the 3D sucked, and I wished I saw it in 2D.

The realD 3D technology used was different from other 3D movies shown in the past. I expected it to look bad like the others, but I was wrong. The story was okay in my book. Did not have a hard time looking at the screen at all and did not have a headache like some other people I've heard did.

Add me to the camp of people that were completely underwhelmed by watching avatar in theater 3d imax. So they added some depth of field, big whoop. I thought it sucked because I forced to focus on what james cameron wanted me to look at. Want to look at that beautiful scenery of a floating waterfall? Too bad, it's all blurry because you're supposed to be looking at whatever 3d image is popping out. I enjoyed the movie more in 2d on my HD tv than I did in 3d at the theater.
