Saw the commercial for this last night (coming to theaters August 27th)
Even my 9 year old said "Really? Why are they going to do that? Who's going to see that?"

some will see it again if they missed it in 3D last time

This for me. We have a full-size IMAX screen here so I waited for it to hit the IMAX theater, only to find out when it arrived that it was NOT being shown in 3-D there. By then it was gone from the regular theater where it had been shown in 3-D.

You're not missing much with the 3-D version.

It's THE landmark film for 3D, and for good-reason; the 3D effect, cinematography, and visual-effects quality, are just absolutely superb. That is the exact kind of 3D I'd want in my home, that I want directors to focus on - not the shitty, in-your-face, post-processing job, but truly filmed in 3D and not in a way that is focusing on gimmicks but rather Depth of Field and immersion into the scene. That is what I loved about Avatar.
The movie itself was completely "Meh", but the 3D was awesome.

I refuse to ever watch Avatar in 2D. It's not a movie I really care to watch, but it is a fun experience in 3D. Because that level of 3D is just that, an experience.

I am looking forward for the movies that will be using the same type of camera system used in Avatar, which include: the new Resident Evil, Tron: Legacy, Transformers 3, and in a few years Cameron will return with Battle Angel.

I'm planning on seeing it. I've watched the movie on my television...in both DVD and BluRay...Now I want to see it in 3D.

8-9 additional minutes and if it's anything like it's being written from the previews then I'm going to assume we will notice them.

Honestly, if you haven't seen it I would go see it in the theater in 3D, preferably in IMAX.

yea it's definitely worth a watch in 3D. I saw it in 3D once, and thought it was the best implementation of 3D I've ever seen. I might go see it again...maybe, only because I wont get to watch the 3D version at home. but like a said...a huge maybe

Was an ok movie. Even if they added more to it, it wouldn't be enough to make me want to sit through it again.

Star Wars would be awesome in this 3D format but I wouldn't want them to touch the original trilogy in any way. I'd be ok with pretending the prequels never happened if they redid those in 3D though. :p

I'm tempted to see it for the extra footage. It would be the 2nd viewing for me. I'd go to $6 day at the fake-imax here. (tuesdays all movies are $6, even the fake-imax)

It wasn't that good. I got sick of the "Dances with Wolves in Space" storyline about an hour in to it.

Beautiful, yes.

Good, no.

That is pretty much what I heard. My gf, on the other hand, loved it. she is actually forcing me to go. We had a bet....if I lost my basketball game, I would have to go in watch it. Well, we lost, so I have to keep my promise :(
