This is about people that thought it would be a bust, not people that wouldn't like the movie.

Visually the film is perhaps the most impressive thing I've seen put on screen. The characters/dialogue needed work though.

Maybe he'll do a better job with the writing in the follow up films.

While the dialog/acting was not oscar quality...it was more than enough for the type of film he was doing. If you look at movies like Aliens or Terminator 2...or even Titanic...the dialog and acting were never high points...but the story telling, pacing, and immersion has always been fantastic. Cameron has talent...no doubt about it.

I never said he didn't but I think it's a legitimate criticism.

FWIW I enjoyed the film overall despite what I consider it's shortcomings.
