Avanquest Software promoting their new store site with a 50% discount offer

Here's the link to the offer:
http://web.avanquest.com/ML/20...S/16/New_Shop_0408.htm Lots of software in the store. Besides Power Desk, I use their SystemSuite (now comes with three licenses per pack), Partition Commander, and Web Easy stuff. And they have FormTool listed in the store which isn't an Avanquest title, so IDK if the code will work for that or not, but it's good stuff if your needs run to creating forms.

And here is a link to the Hot Deals thread offering PowerDesk Pro for around $10. - much more than 50% off: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=40&threadid=2172713 - I just upgraded to v.7 for $20., but it was worth it as I use it every day.

Enjoy!

PS: looks like you have to order the downloadable versions one at a time as I couldn't get two into the basket at a time. Probably if you order the hard copy versions, you can get more than one at a time into the basket. And there are some freebies you can get too like a batch file renaming tool. And IDK whether this is integral to the Web Easy package, but I got a second program called: Motion Artist 3.0 with it. Each was nearly 100MB... The renamer was only 600kB or so. .bh.

PPS: I find that Motion Artist is supposed to help create Flash content for your web site, so it is included with Web Easy. There is a v.4 out there already and the v.3 is widely available as a free download - use your fave web search engine to find it if you want it. .bh.

Avanquest is a large publisher and a small "developer"

I would recommend not buying any of the software they make, like Fix-It Utilities 8 and System Suite 8 (both are almost the same product) ... the product sucks... its a hodge podge of tools that don't work well together...

They work well together for me. Specifics please (and not second-hand w/o a verifiable source), otherwise there is a rule about thread crapping on the AT forums.

I generally don't look to Amazon for technically literate folk. One of the low score reviews was trying to update the virus/spyware signature files direct from Trend - you use the automated update tool within FixIt or SystemSuite to do that (or you can DL them manually from the VCOm site if you'd rather) - never had a problem with signature updates except that they arrive a bit later as VCom has to wave a wand on them. Most Trend OEM licensees have to host their own updates. Just one example - hard to say why others were having problems, but I'd say that PEBKAC was involved in a significant percentage of them.

And you have to love their grasp of the English language..."Attention! This offer is offer expires in one week!"

They do sell NitroPDF Professional, which is pretty decent software for manipulation of PDF files (it has the majority of the functionality of Adobe Acrobat Professional while being far cheaper even at full price, and it isn't made by Adobe). At half-price, it is a pretty good bargain.

The discount code does appear to work for it, and I'm very seriously thinking about purchasing a copy.

So you put the Web Easy Pro software that is supposedly starting out at a discount at $39.99 iinto the shopping cart and it won't go in as $39.99. It goes in at $44 no matter what you do. After you apply the 50 percent off code and they add in the tax and shipping there is no way to get away with less than $30 for the software.

Not too cool.

Let me check that out - I got mine for $21.70 incl tax - if you want to only get it in downloadable form, you have to uncheck the "ship backup CD option" (which is selected by default) and make sure the "extended time to download" is also unchecked - each of those options costs something.

I couldn't even load another copy into my basket using my Seamonkey browser (the same one I bought with before - so I guess they are limiting multiple purchases with a cookie) so I loaded IE and was able to load a copy to the basket then. It was 43.40 incl NY sales tax - enter promo code: NEWAQ50, click OK and it cuts in half. Just worked for me. Look down at the total section it shows the cost w/ and w/o sales tax.

And I just did two of their multiple tool tune-ups in SystemSuite8 on my fairly recent install of XP (was using win2k before) and no problems here.

BH,

The free shipping is new since I tried it this morning. Thanks.

John

UPDATE: If you put the software in the basket it says Free Shipping. As soon as you apply the 50% off code it adds on $7.95 for shipping every time. I don't know how you got around it, but I am sorry, the way they are doing that is a bogus stunt.
They advertise the software for a discount at $39.99. Put it in the basket and it adds tax, but with free shipping. Add the coupon code and the free shipping goes away and you end up paying $8.00 for shipping. As I said in my post earlier. The software still ends up costing you around $30. It's bogus. When I bought Web Easy Professional 6 they sent me an offer for version 7 when it came out, but didn't play these games. Now they are playing games. No thanks.

OK,

Never mind. I see how you did it. What you did only works for the download version. For that you get "free shipping"

If you want the boxed version sent to you, you get free shipping only if you don't use the coupon code.

If you don't want to pay shipping, buy the download version and burn it to a CD yourself. I never said their shipping was a good deal. I never pay to have them ship anything. I expect the free shipping is for those lunkheads that pay full price (which I never do for software either considering that their incremental cost per unit is nearly zero).

You have a point there. There isn't really much difference between WEP 6 and 7 so I may wait for WEP 8 and the upgrade offer they will undoubtedly send me as they did last time.

Thanks for posting the deal BH

John

Ordered My Invoices & Estimates Deluxe 9. At that price it's worth trying and looks very professional.

Does anyone have experience with their credit card processing services?
