Availability of the BFG 7800 GTX

Best Buy had them until as recently as 5 hours ago, but now they're sold out. Too bad, too, since with a 10% off coupon and only $8 2-day shipping, you could've picked one up for $558 like me.

Really I'm getting it for the equivalent of $539 because I'm in the Reward Zone, at that.

Do a little Google searching and it's pretty easy. It's "$10 off for every $100 you spend upto $500" or something. The fine print says it won't work on computer hardware, but it applied to my order for the 7800, so "computer hardware" must mean full systems rather than peripherals/upgrades. I've found Best Buy to frequently use slightly off terminology in its fine print.

The coupon is good through July 9th, so keep an eye out for stock to come back before then. The deal isn't a completely lost cause yet. 🙂

Bought one last night at ZipZoomFly.com. Shipped out today overnight.

Looks like they're sold out now though. 🙁

Tax?

Oregon's? No sales tax. Income tax is the highest in the nation, period, though (even higher than California or DC, though they pay both). 9% on most of our income. (It starts at 5% but considering the 9% bracket starts at $6550/yr, even the extremely poor pay 9% on a good portion of their income.)

I'd prefer paying a 9% sales tax on everything except food or something, though, since then at least the money I save instead of spend wouldn't get infested with govt. leeches. That and there are ways to dodge sales taxes (buying as much stuff as possible from the right online vendors, for example), whereas the best you can do with an income tax is find deductions.

State income taxes

State sales taxes

From that response I assume you live in a socialist European country. Remember two things: One, that's the state income tax--everyone has to pay 25%-or-so Federal in addition to that. Two, we get almost nothing back from the government for the taxes we pay. No health care or any of the other perks a socialist structure enjoys for their higher taxes. We get basic infrastructure such as roads, law enforcement, schools of steadily plummeting quality, and so on...that's about it. The benefits I reap from the government are pretty poor for watching over a third of my income vanish.

The "benefits" are really poor here as well, you should come check out the excuse for a health care system we've got. Oh, and law enforcement, schools, and basically everything else.

45%-55% income tax, 25% sales tax, those are the largest two. Then there's car tax, TV tax, tax, tax, tax...

Collectivism is death and destruction.

You think he has it bad. I live in Vancouver, WA (just accross the river from Portland, OR) and I work in Oregon. I pay the 9% income tax and I'm not even an Oregon resident! I then have to pay sales tax on everything unless I want to drive over to Oregon to buy something (and that gets to be a pain in the @$$).

Oregon can kiss my @$$! If I ever lose my job the best part will be getting as far away from that screwed up state as possible!

BTW, newegg shows the GTX is going to be back in stock in a day or two. Just fill out the auto notification and keep your eyes open. I kept checking back after their first shipment sold out and they got more in a day or two later and I snagged one. I should get it on Wed.

Heh, that's why there's no way in hell I'd live in Vancouver. Every time people at work talk about how much cheaper the housing is over there, I just grin at the fact I'm avoiding double-taxation of my income. Besides, as long as housing keeps going the way it's going, the net result will just be a bigger capital gain if/when it comes time to resell my place than I'd get owning property in Washington.

Yeah, I'm screwed. I was going to buy a house in Multnomah County until the people voted themselves a nice little income tax. No way in hell I'm paying more income tax. Especially to a damn COUNTY! My wife doesn't want to move to Oregon but I was willing to move just to get out of the sales tax over here.

Anyway, sorry for going off topic.

I don't think you'll have any problem finding a BFG in the next few days.

BestBuy.com has the best price on the BFG - they don't price gouge and are selling it for 599$... There's also a 50$ off 500$ coupon too (so it's 549$).

They shipped mine today, and i'll have it otmmorow (shipping overnight was only 9$)..

Newegg and the rest are price gouging.

Would be nice if bestbuy.com would put that back up. They took it down as well as many other retailers out there. Tigerdirect doesn't have it listed anymore. ZZF doesn't, pretty much everyone but MilwaukeePC and Newegg have taken thier links to the BFG 7800gtx down...

Anyone know why? Other then it just being out of stock?

Sorry...ZZF has it back up

Just one of many brands at ZZF:

Yeah, some are out of stock, but none are "removed". Best Buy's is removed, probably because they realized they weren't making enough money on it with that 10% coupon and are trying to stop the bleeding, especially as there's a 10% sale on through tomorrow and that sale is stackable with the coupon which would mean BFG 7800 GTX's for under $500.

I suspect some people think they aren't for sale on some sites because they search for "7800GTX". When the listings are "7800 GTX" (note the space) you'll get zero matches even when they have plenty in stock. Search for just "7800" for best results, thought you'll get some non-graphics-card matches that way.
