This is no more a troll thread than all the previous complaints about ATI paper launches (which I believe were valid complaints).

The fact is simply that NV knowingly did a paper launch on the 512 GTX in order to steal the thunder from the X1800XT.

It's annoying, but I personally don't care much about either company's offerings at this high level, since they are all way too much money. Get a good battle between the 7800GT and X1800XL and I'll be happy.

I agree, if there are threads which complain about ATI's lack of availability, then threads for NV are completely logical (assuming that there actually is something to complain about :p)

AGAIN

its not directly NV's fault theres a shortage. they can produce as many of these high end chips as you like.

its SAMSUNG who arent pulling through quite yet since theyve only just got the new 1.1ns 64mb memory modules into production and obviously are having a few problems limiting them from ramping up production

And so is this one.

Robert, you spend a lot of time talking smack about Rollo yet stoop to his supposed level?

nonsense . . . although RobertR1 seems to be the 'anti-rollo' . . . about time

i don't have his energy . . . but it's good to see some "balance" back in Video.

nVidia doesn't care about the availability of its flagship card or it's price . . . as long as it is faster than the x1800xt.

When i go to priewatch there are 4 places that have the 512 meg cards instock, i mean they are available what else could you want? Do they have to be in a brick and mortar store? I bought mine at a local TigerDirect they have them in stock and on display.

I don't know about the other thread, but I don't think this one is trolling. I know any thread attacking one company will get a lot of passionate responces, but he does seem to have an honest point - the delays nvidia is facing were totally predictable yet nvidia launched the card anyways to make a PR statement.

I heard the reasion is becase of the 1.1 ns ram is in short supply so they cant make that many cards even if they have lots of gpus that work at that speed.

true . . . absolutely true . . . BUT

. . . nVidia knew well in advance that the superfast RAM would be in short supply and released their Ultra anyway ;)

short supply [big demand] = way overMSRP prices

I'm not doubting any of this, but I would surely like to know your source. Who told you that nVidia knew well in advance that the superfast RAM would be in short supply and released their Ultra anyway?

logic told me and hints from theInq.

Nvidia's problem right now is that demand exceeds supply by a mile. In case you didn't know, the main problem is getting enough 144-pin 1.1ns Samsung GDDR-3 memory chips - those chips aren't exactly in mass production, and the chips had the status of only "sampling" not a long time ago. Samsung massively produces 1.2ns and 1.26ns GDDR3 memory chips, as tens of thousands of 7800GTX and X1800XL/XT can witness, but 1.1ns is in rather short supply, consumed entirely by nVIDIA's 7800GTX 512MB baby.

plus there was a much earlier article stating the same thing . . . it'd take a 'search' to find it.
