Well thanks to Jello who helped lighten my wallet, I went and bought three of the ELT centers to spread around the front and two of the LRS surrounds for the back. The folks at AV123.com are very nice and helpful. I spent a whole bunch of time perusing their forum over the weekend and it further convinced me that this is a great company to deal with. I have yet to hear the speakers because they'll be arriving this week so I'm just going by what I've read but so far I like what I see. Had I a bigger budget I surely would have given UPS more business! As it is I am now watching for when the subwoofers go on sale.

If the subs don't go on sale, make sure you check out HSU and SVS as alternatives.

Dang! I just got the pair I ordered in and now they don't have any of the wood finish ones left... only black 🙁

They sound great though! 🙂

Oh, and hey Jello

hmm... debating whether or not to get the black ones just because it would be nice to have four of these. doubt they are gonna go on sale like this again

From my extensive reading, if Trevelyan is comparing the SVS vs. the Rocket subs, the SVS have a slight edge in performance whereas the Rockets look better. The PB10 just goes down lower than the 10" Rocket sub.

They are only on sale because they are being replaced by new models, so you won't see prices like this for a while. Then again, the new models are going to be hyped as being superior to the old.

Hi 🙂

I'm glad you like them.

Maybe e-mail AV123 sales and see if they think might have a couple more coming in or something?

They might get some in B-stock. Another place to look would be classifieds and see if anything shows up. There are some birch ones available now for example.

I don't really know the motivation behind the sale. It looks like everything in the whole line is being clearanced... maybe they're getting rid of the ELT line all together?

If it was me wanting to put together a system right now, I'd get three pairs of the piano ones to make a 6.0 system and find a sub elsewhere.

No denying that the rocket subs are sharp looking, but I don't think my PB10 looks out of place next to my RS550s.

Maybe if I do get a new sub eventually (I'm acting like this is not a certainty) then I might have to get a sample of SVS's rosewood to see what kind of match I get. 😎

We build the SVS rosewood enclosures so let me know if you need a sample...I can take care of it!

Thanks for the info on the SVS rosewood connection. I didn't know that.

So they give you guys MDF enclosures and you put the veneer on them or something?

We build the boxes completely and they load up the driver and amp...

Ok, I've heard tons about the ELTs but I'm on a serioud budget here. I already have a set of Polk R-30s which I wanted to demote to surrounds later on. I'm not sure how good these would fit into my setup. Do you think these would be good to be used as fronts? I have a Yamaha HTR-5840 receiver. Any advice would be great. I'm still a newbie at this, but I know theres a ton to learn.

Because I work for AV123 I don't feel it is fair for me to answer. Hopefully someone else reading this has heard both!

Good luck!

Hi Sean! (we got acquainted due to Jello's thread-starting post... Sean was really helpful with my numerous pesky speaker questions). I ordered three center speakers (2 to use as the front left and rights) plus two of the surronds for the back. They are all sitting in my office in the box waiting to be set up this weekend at home. I haven't heard them yet (can't wait, either!) but let me tell you, these things are absolutely gorgeous! The finish and build quality are top notch. If they sound anywhere near as good as they look, they will be fantastic. The speakers came double-boxed in very sturdy cardboard, and had styrofoam inserts inside, plus they were wrapped in a thick t-shirt quality cloth. So far, very nice! I can't wait to listen to them. You know what I will be doing this weekend.. However, correct me if I am wrong but it seems like the center channels are now all sold out?

I don't want any of my posts to come off as marketing or anything like that so I really should not answer. I want to honor the owners of this board by only answering tech questions and things like that and leave any subjective stuff out of it. I don't want anyone to think we are trying to get free marketing by hyping our products or services etc...

Hope that makes sense!

hehe...OK we can get around that a bit...

The x-ls monitors have a larger and completely different main driver and tweeter. The crossover is rather different as well and the way the woofer is handled is a big departure from what you ever see in this price class though now I am getting into marketing so I need to be careful! In the end, they will best the ELT LRS's. Of course they are more expensive at $199/pr and won't be available for a couple months.

If anyone lives in the Denver metro area, you can listen to them for yourself this weekend at the Rock Mountain Audio Fest. That way you can come back here and tell people how killer they are and I won't be worried I did anything wrong here 😉

well then, technically, how do these new X series differ from the ELT's.

Welcome to AT.

If your budget it right around $100/pair I don't think you're going to do better than these.

Do you have a center channel already? I would suggest trying to get the drong three matched if possible if you're going to be doing some HT with these.

Sean's in the house! I remembered from a thread a couple years ago that you sometimes check out this board!

(I remember that thread went the way of a typical AVS thread, so good job keeping it neutral Sean)

Just got my shipping notice on my UFW-12 -- can't wait!
