The new Big 3 - Kaspersky, Panda, Trend. Momma Mia.

great results from so many. Eset doing awesome, avast made big improvement among others and surprising we see ones like gdata fall. but for sure happy to see so many doing so great

I use Eset NOD32 FTW

MSE/Windows Defender not in the list as usual as they have lost certification due to poor performance :)

And the Performance Test:

Panda is garbage. Had 3 viruses get through on customer's machines today. Plus it's a huge resource hog, bah!

I just use Bitdefender free. Have Avira on the other machine.

+1 for Bitdefender free.

I gave it a try at my last reinstall a couple months ago and have been pretty much satisfied with it. It is very light on resources and seems to do a good job real-time in combination with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro.

A very kind friend of mine gave me a copy of Emsisoft anti-malware . It is pretty good with the behavior block and all but most of my heavy lifting is done by NoScript and Sandboxie. I'm also using one of those silly little limited user accounts that all the cool kids rave about .

Honestly, I swear by Kaspersky and I run it for years. This chart confirms it again why.

Debian :^P

I'm so keen to moving my workstation to Debian/Ubuntu, but i just can't do it. I spend a lot of time in Linux servers, although terminal based i know the ins and outs.

I have Ubuntu as a 2nd OS on my laptop and it works really well. I love it. But i keep having to boot into windows for certain pieces of management software which doesn't run on Linux.

My time will come. Maybe when i start work and get a work laptop. Then i'm a bit more free. :).

Have you tried Wine? It works for some things. There's also virtual machines, which I prefer to dual booting.

Yea I've heard of Wine, but i don't really like that sort of stuff. I don't know why. Just something about emulating Windows inside Linux. I'd rather use a VM i guess.

I've been working a lot in Remmina RDP which is nice and fast. A very nice RDP client actually.

I like to dual boot because it works much better with 2 screen. That's pretty much the only reason.

Is there an article that describes why it's no longer an acceptable AV? I have all my family members on MSSE right now.
It's because MSE provides all their data to other AV companies. The other AV companies incorporate MSE' data into their own databases.

So you have MSE + Vendor database for all other AV suites. So in all cases MSE will come last because every other AV has at the very least the same definitions as MSE.

That's why MSE is now considered Baselines because it's the minimum level of every other AV on the market.

Still running MSE here. I'm more concerned with third parties gaining access to web services or intercepting data than I am them putting malware on my computer.

Giant chart with orange bars, missing every bit of hard data we need. I would never form a conclusion based on anything like this....looks like the cheapest, most insulting infomercial ever made.

Not to mention, where is Norton?

Worthy reviews are rich with data.

Honestly, I think it has been over 5 years since my AV has caught anything. I think I should just go back to no AV like I did for years.

Noooo! If what you share reflects that your AV has precluded infection, which it well might.......that's huge.

Given what's out there increasingly, and give excellent free apps, why anyone would choose NOT to run one, I can not imagine.o_O

Neo, sometimes you leave me like this::eek:

Symantec don have to give permission anymore than any other Co who offers these apps! Anymore than say Intel or AMD have to give permission for independent pundits to review their chips. Why would you think otherwise?????

When I chose Norton.....well over a year ago, maybe more, can't remember, I chose it in large part, based on the in depth reviews, compared to all others I read online.
