OK...so Symantec screwed me over on my NSW2005, they invalidated my CD key for no reason...so no I am looking into good AV software that is up to day. I read over the consolodated security thread, and I found Kaspersky....but I'm still torn between the Norton AV because of its worm protection that acts like a firewall for me, and I also was considering McAfee Virusscan 10...

Feedback? If I drop Norton (meaning I loose my worm protection feature that catches stuff like Betbios hacks) will I need to buy a firewall?? Please, give me advice as to what to buy.....not just limited to AV software (if I'll need a firewall to accompany some AV software, please say so)

I would suggest looking at some free ones. I recommend both AntiVir and avast! If you want to pay for one look at Kaspersky and NOD32.

will I need to buy a firewall??

You are using Windows XP, right? If so, just use the native SP2 firewall.

Can anyone attest to how Norton AV 06 or McAfee v10 are? How's McAfee's firewall/spyware stuff????
