Autoplay problem

i'm having a weird problem with my dvd-rom drive (ASUS DVD-E616P2)

if i put in a cd or dvd without an autoplay popup like a data cd or whatever, it reads pretty much instantly and i can access stuff on the cd and whatever with no problems or lag.

but for some reason, when i put in cd/dvd's with an autoplay feature, i hear my drive spin up but the light on it doesn't blink, and my computer just sort of sits there trying to read the cd/dvd for like 2-3 minutes, and then finally the light starts blinking on the drive and it reads decently. it's really annoying because if i have an autoplaying cd in the drive and i go click on my computer, it refreshes and sits there for another 2 minutes while it's trying to read the drive.

i updated to the latest firmware, and i'm still having the problem...

any ideas?

nobody can help me out?

i'll add some extra information.
when my drive spins up and it just hangs there and doesn't read, it keeps adding errors to the event viewer "The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period."

Is it all CDs or is it a particular one? It sounds like a bad CD to me. Maybe the part that has the autorun information is corrupt or scrtachted.
