Automotive Performance Celebrities

Cool, one vote for Lingenfelter! Seeing videos and reading about the man, it seemed he really loved what he did, and had a lot of fun doing it. I don't know much about the Ruf father and son, or for that matter Callaway, so I think I'll have to go with J.L. as well.

no love for a nation's driving hero?

hes the drift king of japan.

I may not have made it clear, but every single person on my list is an actual car modding engineer. From what I could gather from Tsuchiya, he doesn't mod cars himself personally. If I'm wrong, I'll add him to the list. I know there are some other modders from Japan that I left out just because I can't remember their names, but MINE'S (Niikura) came to mind.

he owned his own japanese suspension company till 2005. he sold it then and has since been judge of D1 grand prix. Engineer? i'm fairly sure he had to mod his own cars to win all of his competitions. he just didn't sell them like the guys above the poll

I was a fan of Carrol Shelby until I realized he'd put his name on nearly anything that paid him well enough.

My overall fav would likely be Gale Banks but I have a hard time writing off Doug Rippie or John Lingenfelter.

EDIT: If we are picking "celebrity only", It would be Jesse James.

Ooo, good calls. Jesse James is responsible for creative projects that do require some thought and effort to produce the intended results, so I think he qualifies. I'll add these now.
