Concentrating on what they're doing and realising they're basically incompetent would be a better start. Manual vs automatic is bottom of the list on how to improve that side of things AFAIC. If you're not concentrating or coordinated enough to drive a manual, then it's game over.

Indeed.
Anyone driving and talking on the phone at the same time should have their license withdrawn on the spot.

I like manuals too, but then again, most cars around here(Sweden) are manuals, so maybe I've acquired my taste for it by osmosis :)
Sucks when being stuck in a traffic jam, but my temper sucks so much that I'll be cooking with rage within 2-3 minutes anyway when that happens, and by then I won't be thinking about the gearing anyways.

Don't worry - I have one of those 6-thousand function audio units. I have to look real close to read the buttons and display information, but I'm still a safe driver - I always wear my seatbelt. Well, except when I get within 10 minutes of work, that's when I start to put on my pants and shirt (I don't like them getting wrinkled on the drive in).

Automagic doesn't do it for me ... if I'm coming up to a tight corner in fourth gear:
tap for 4->3
*long one second pause*
tap for 3->2
*long one second pause*
now in second gear, but out of corner already :p

Weak. Give me:
downshift into 2nd gear at 5000rpm with throttle blip to rev match
squeal the tires while flying round the bend
realize the police station is now kitty-corner to a patch of rubber
hammer it into 3rd, chirp the tires, and vanish :D

Im 24, and I've driven a manual for the last 5 years and I've already had enough.

Same here. I love driving manual, but next car is going to be an auto cause of traffic. I'll buy a manual weekend car one day if I ever have the money.

You're mistaken. Acura TSX, obviously 6MT.

I tried using the adjusting nut/bolt but couldn't get it to tighten.
No matter, it's not like I don't know which slot each gear is :p
