Is there anything I can do about this? It's so insanely annoying, I can't find any non-vulgar words to describe it.
Whenever I unplug monitor for whatever reason, most Windows move themselves to the top left corner of the screen and resize themselves to a fragment of original size.
Help!

Why are you unplugging the monitor? And if there is no monitor (and no display) why does it matter what size the windows are?

I know that doesn't answer the question. Just trying to figure out what you are trying to do so we can give you a better resolution to the problem.

Why is absolutely irrelevant. There's not even any particular reason. It's not like I do it often.
It's just something that happens (the resize) under these circumstances and is annoying as hell, and I am wondering why, and what (if anything) could be done to prevent it.

To be more specific, replug is probably better word.

I will give it a look.

I think what possibly happens is that Windows has hardcoded default resolution of 800x600 which it falls back to when you disconnect a monitor no matter what resolution is the desktop set to. Well, it's pretty annoying.

I might be wrong though.
