Automatic Update Window Minimizing

Is there a way to prevent the Windows Update window(s) from automatically minimizing while updates are being downloaded or installed? I realize that it sounds like a minor annoyance, but it bugs me when the window minimizes and I can no longer track the progress of the updates. Sometimes when it minimizes, scrolling over the system tray icon will not show any information and no manner of clicking/right-clicking/double-clicking the icon will bring the window back up so that I can view its progress, leaving me to guess whether or not the update process has finished. Having a visual indicator would be great so that I could proceed to do other things and periodically check on the progress by simply looking across the room...

I've had the same issue... but generally a few left clicks, followed by a few right clicks, followed by a few left clicks, returns the window.

That said -- if you launch Windows Update from the control panel, it doesn't automatically minimize; it only does that if you launch it from the tray.

The one that gives me the most trouble is Windows XP (all the versions including Home, Professional and Media Center). I generally run the updates following a re-install, which I have set up with Service Pack 3 slipstreamed in. I used to launch Windows Update by clicking on Start > All Programs > Windows Update, but ever since last Tuesday it has informed me that I must use the Automatic Update feature when I connect to the Windows Update site with an XP machine. I think that is in part why it is bugging me more now, since I didn't have trouble bringing the update window back into focus when launching from the Start menu, though for as long as I can remember it has behaved this way when using the Automatic Update utility that pops up in the system tray. Vista and 7 also minimize the update window automatically, but they do not seem to give me trouble bringing it back into focus. I have often assumed that it was one of the pesky quirks of dealing with Windows. I just figured I would see if there was a way to change the default behavior.
