Automatic unwanted System Shut Downs

Hello,

i got a really strange problem here. From time to time my system is totally shutting down during working, means its like a reset but both hds are also completely shut off, so they have to turn back on after this sudden shut down.

I am running xp. Got a PIII EB with a Gigabyte GA-5FX board. 512 MB Infineon RAM. A Asus Tnt 2 Graphiccard. I got one Symbios Logic Scsi Adapter, with two connected drives. And i also got a ide dvd-rom drive. I got two IBM hds. Both newer ones. And i got a soundblaster live value card and a realtek networking card that is my connect to the inet.

So i hope this describes my hardware situation a little bit.

I really dont know what is going wrong with my system. I already turned out my realmagic hollywood plus mpeg2 decoder card, but that didnt solve the problem.

It seems that if the system is totally busy sometimes it then shuts down, and on the other hand, it sometimes shuts down when i watch a movie in media player and doing maybe some audio stuff in winamp at the same time.

Ah and i also forgot, that when i am downloading something from our lokal network here it also happens that it shuts down when doing other things at the same time. Sometimes even when i only download or upload something.

So i hope you can help me. Maybe its a bios problem or something in that way.

Thx a lot in advance.

Hello

I also thought about something like that.

But why is it then not always? I mean, its only from time to time

Besides, where can i look up the power supply specs?

I had the same thing happen to me. I was running W2K and it would just shut down randomly. It got so bad that it shut down on me 5 times in one day. I believe my profile got corrupted. I deleted my profile and everything is coooool now.

Hi, so you just deleted your profile and everything worked fine again?

Hmm, but i did a clean install of xp only two days ago and it already comes up?
