Manual is the most accomidating stock transmission.

In traffic however, it is not the most user-friendly:|

I've never driven a manual. People say they're way better, but i'm lazy. Maybe one day i'll get a cheap manual car to practice on before i buy a good one. Then i'll go racing.

I drive a manual and don't have too much trouble in traffic. I leave a buffer and roll in 1st. It works well until the people in the lane next to me think that the opening is a way to get out of the traffic quicker.... they are really smart.

Have any trouble learning manual? Do you cringe when people ask if you can teach them how to drive manual on your car?

I like manual transmissions, but I was commuting 40+ miles each way to NYC every day, and I opted for an automatic.

(And, yes, it was uphill both ways) :)

If I had a manual, no way would I let anyone near it except maybe my mom (my dad will get lazy and drive it rough).

My previous cars have been:

1989 Hyundai Excel - 5-Speed Manual
1992 Volkswagen Passat - 5 Speed Manual
1995 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 - 4-Speed Automatic :(
2002 Volkswagen Golf TDI - 5 Speed Manual

I prefer a manual.

Did you have to drive barefoot? In the snow?

I'd like to drive a diesel with a manual. Something seems cool about shifting at like 1500rpm.

Which car? The mustang is a 5 speed manual, the others (Focus, Civic, F-series) are all autos.

Both automatics right now :
95 Aurora
92 Vic

Had a manual 84 Merc Topaz that I gave to my brother-in-law about 2 years ago.

I guess for a commuter, I prefer auto. For a car to go cruising in, manual.

You don't need a diesel to do that, just a nice big V8 engine. :)

Currently I prefer an automatic, but the next time I get a car that I plan to modify/race, it'll be a manual.

I've got two cars, and so does my mom, two toytas that are manual(our daily drivers) and then two more...ford f250 and a chevy suburban for when we do stuff, camping, hauling stuff, horse trailering, which are both automatic
