Hi.

My GF recently got herself a laptop, so my rig went from a multi-user system to a single-user. I believe there is a way to make Windows assume that I am always the user, thus skipping the login screen, but I cannot find it.
Any of you guys know where it is?

First way is to remove all additional users on the computer. While you're also in user accounts under the control panel, click the option to change the way users log on or off, and make sure it is set to use the welcome screen. Also remove any password on the user account.

Finally, if still not working, like some programs like Quickbooks or Ghost create a extra hidden user account, you'll need to google tweakui, and download it off of Microsoft's website, install it, and in there has an auto-logon option that is guaranteed to work.

That will not do it ... He wants the computer to boot directly into Windows
without the need for selecting a User or Entering a Password

Sure it will. It's actually the second part (that doesn't require editing the regstistry) of the KB article you linked too.

It should have brought up a User Accounts box where you could uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".
