Automatic Fan speed controller

I am looking to find an automatic fan speed controller. The hsf I am looking at at present is the Gigabyte 3D one although that is by no means decided.

What I would like is a control panel tha fits in a 5.25" bay that looks nice. On which you set a temperature setting. Then it monitors the cpu temp and if it goes above the set level it will increase the fan speen gradually until the temp drops or max speed is reached and also decreases speed when the temp is low enough. Control of other fans etc would be a bonus

Does such a thing exist, and available in the UK.

They do exist; I've seen em..... just can't remember where right now. I'm sure I could find the a link if I looked for a bit.

Have you considered doing this via software/BIOS settings? Lots of boards have the ablity to control fan speeds Aopen and Asus are the ones I'm familar with and work great.

Have you tried SpeedFan?

I was looking for something that was more hardware based and also that program only runs in windows and I use Linux.

I have gone off the idea now because I don't like the idea of putting a thermal sensor in between the HSF and CPU which all these temperature sensors seem to require.

I am now going to look for a HSF with a built in Sensor like the venus 12 or monitor the temp in the bios and use a manual control.

I will start a new thread about chosing a fan

Just go with the BIOS route then. Its much more accurate and reliable then any thermal sensor you'll find in a heatsink.
